Job Description:  

The vice-principal shares with the principal the responsibilities of administration and supervision of the school personnel and the total school program. The vice-principal is directly accountable to the pastor and principal. The vice-principal has experience as a student, a teacher, or an administrator in an IHM School or is willing to learn and infuse the school with codified hallmarks of IHM education.

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional Personnel Responsibilities

·         To assist the principal in interviewing and/or placement of new teachers

·         To assist the principal in supervision and evaluation of teachers

·         To coordinate maintenance of professional records and religious education certificates

·         To assign substitute personnel

·         To assist the principal in the supervision and monitoring of all volunteer personnel and teacher aides

Academic Responsibilities

·         To assist in the growth and development of the faith community throughout the entire school program

·         To assist the principal in planning the agenda for in-service programs and faculty meetings

·         To coordinate Archdiocesan testing programs and all activities relative to the program

·         To review and sign lesson plans weekly

·         To assist curriculum subject coordinators as needed

·         To assist teachers in submitting recommendations for children needing special services such as reading, mathematics, and counseling

·         To assist at parent-teacher conferences as needed

·         Serves as resource person for teachers in curriculum planning and teacher development

·         To manage data of Terra Nova Next testing; to guide teachers in learning the website features and applying the data to classroom and individualized instruction.

 Administrative Responsibilities

·         To assist in the development and maintenance of faculty and student handbooks

·         To assist principal in developing newsletters, recruitment, and other public relations activities

·         To assist in the development and implementation of the school’s discipline policies

·         To assist principal in reviewing student disciplinary suspensions and dismissal

·         To attend district meetings, Archdiocesan Administrators in-service, and other appropriate professional meetings

·         To chair the Middle States process

·         To lead SHS in adopting the Keystone STARS Program

·         To oversee the Student Council

·         To coordinate “Marker Days,” i.e., Sacred Heart Day, Marython, December 8/Immaculate Conception, Holy Week Retreat

·         To monitor Morning Arrival and Dismissal

·         To supervise the Cafeteria

·         To represent the SHS Administration at SPAT meetings
