Job Description:
The Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations reports to the Principal and works with the Development and Enrollment Committee Chairs to lead that committee. The position is full time, twelve months a year and requires flexibility as attendance at important school events and functions during non-school hours is required. Specific responsibilities include:
● Work with the school administration, the Board of Limited Jurisdiction (BLJ), and its Development and Enrollment Committees to plan and implement fundraising and external relations programs.
● Conduct comprehensive annual giving and capital fundraising programs directed to all STA constituent groups, including volunteer recruitment, coordination of individual solicitations, direct mail appeals, telethons, and appropriate follow-up activities.
● Cultivate and recruit volunteers for development projects, maintaining their enthusiasm, and involvement while communicating progress and maintaining focus on priorities.
● Assume supervisory responsibility for prompt acknowledgement and the stewardship necessitated by donations both corporate and individual.
● Manage the Advancement Office and its responsibilities including record keeping, tracking, filing, communications with outside agencies, and other administrative details.
● Prepare annual and capital gift reports for the Principal and BLJ. Meet regularly, with the Principal, to plan, report, and evaluate results.
● Establish an online alumni data base to track donations and strengthen alumni relations.
● Coordinate donor cultivation events such as donor parties, parent coffees, new parent gatherings, alumni gatherings, and grandparents’ day.
● Coordinate all fundraising projects, special events, and external relations activities which are not the responsibility of the HSA.
● Attend all Home and School meetings as an Administration Liaison providing support as appropriate for events such as the HSA wish list, teacher appreciation efforts, and community building H&S activities.
● Attend BLJ and appropriate board committee meetings as requested.
● Produce a timely, accurate annual report and oversee the production and writing of the twice-yearly school newsletter.
● Be a visible asset of the school community: participate in school activities, build strong relations among the Development Office, the faculty and staff. Cultivate the faculty's cooperation with overall development objectives.
● Coordinate special projects funded by advancement initiatives.
● Work with the BLJ to implement and support its mission of raising $1M this year.
● Perform all the foregoing responsibilities with professionalism, confidentiality, and tact. Clearances will be required.

Compensation: Saint Thomas the Apostle School (STA)’s salary and benefits are competitive and include medical, vision, and dental insurance.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of fundraising and event planning experience expected - ideally in a non-profit organization. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
