Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D., Archbishop of Philadelphia, will preside at the Liturgy of the Word preceding the 45th Annual Academic Honors Convocation in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
This event will recognize the achievements of 125 distinguished scholars from 31 Archdiocesan and private Catholic secondary schools throughout the five-county Philadelphia region.
West Catholic Preparatory High School will formally open and dedicate its new Connelly Center for Academic Excellence. The center houses the school’s De La Salle Academic Support Program which aims to enrich the learning experience for West Catholic students.

Sister Catherine Danielle LeTourneau, I.H.M., Honors Math Teacher at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School in Bensalem (Bucks County) and Mrs. Caroline Maher, Assistant Principal and Middle School Honors Math Teacher at Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School in Maple Glen (Montgomery County) were among ten educators in the region recognized as All-Star Teachers by the Philadelphia Phillies prior to their game on Friday, May 2. The teachers were celebrated as part of the Phillies 25th annual Teacher Appreciation Night.
Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that the Secretariat for Catholic Human Services will be officially rebranded as Catholic Charities of Philadelphia (CC Philadelphia).
Catholic Human Services is comprised of Catholic Social Services, Catholic Housing and Community Services, and Nutritional Development Services. The three agencies as well as their supporting ministries have always been and will remain integral components of the Archdiocese fulfilling the Catholic Church of Philadelphia’s mission to serve as the compassionate hands of Christ to those in need.
