Archbishop Ryan Academy for the Deaf is seeking an instructional assistant for the 2017-2018 school year.


Assists the Teacher of the Deaf in teaching a variety of skills to students who are deaf. Works directly with students individually and / or in groups under the direction of the teacher.  Prepares materials and equipment to be used by the students in the classroom.  Follows through on teacher’s lesson plans, classroom routine, assigned tasks, and directions from therapists.  Provides assistance to the classroom teacher in daily routines with students.  Be flexible to assist school wide when there is a need.


  • Must have a high school diploma. Some college education preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate through the use of American Sign Language.
  • Must have current PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance Check, and Federal Criminal Background Check,
  • Must attend Safe Environment training and attend Mandated Reporter Training through the Office of Child and Youth Protection of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Necessary Abilities:

Genuine interest to work with children with disabilities. Ability to follow directions and adapt to new and/or unique situations.  Ability to establish rapport and appropriate relationships with students and their families.  Able to maintain confidentiality.

Instructional Assistant is a 10 month position.
