Position Available: Principal
St. Helena School seeks qualified applicants for the position of Principal effective July 1, 2018. A dynamic, Christ-centered leader is required to succeed a successful long-term principal who has presided over a period of programmatic, enrollment, and facilities growth. Through his/her personal witness to the Catholic faith, compassionate stance, and passionate articulation of the mission of the school to all constituents, the next principal will preserve and advance St. Helena’s unique culture, rooted in the legacy of Catherine McAuley and the charism of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, who have directed the school since its founding. The principal will accept primary responsibility for sustaining a student-centered environment that fosters academic excellence, Catholic faith formation, vitality, and long-term viability. Responsible for creating a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process and fostering a love for learning, the successful applicant will inspire a committed faculty and an engaged student body to form a highly effective and inclusive learning community. Use of technology as a communication and educational tool, work in advancement and development, and supportive presence at school and parish events are important commitments expected of the new principal. Middle States accredited, St. Helena School has an enrollment of 520 students in Pre-K to Grade 8 with 24 full time teachers working together with support staff to form a nurturing, just, and service-oriented community. The principal is appointed by and accountable to the Pastor of St. Helena Parish.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
The preferred applicant should be an experienced leader, with skills in curriculum implementation, the use of technology in instruction, current school safety practices, team building, faculty supervision and development, and effective elementary school management. He/she will be faith- filled, confident, collaborative, strategic in thinking and planning, and future-oriented. The Principal should have an understanding of contemporary marketing and development and the tools and strategies needed to facilitate and communicate initiatives which will advance the school by growing the enrollment and developing resources.
The applicant should hold an M.A. or M.Ed. in education administration, or related area, and other certifications as required by the Office of Catholic Education.
