Thursday, March 15th

School representatives also signed a two-year extension on a dual credit public speaking course

On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Lizanne Magarity Pando, President of Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls (SH) in the Tacony section of Philadelphia, and Dr. Lawrence DiPaolo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs for Neumann University (NU), Aston (Delaware County), signed a guaranteed admission agreement. It grants SH students who meet predetermined guidelines entrance into NU beginning with the 2018-2019 academic year.

As an added feature of this agreement, NU will award students who meet certain academic benchmarks with various merit scholarships. The Trustee Scholarship is at the top tier and provides students with an award of $16,000 per year for the four years of undergraduate studies at NU. To be eligible for this scholarship, students at SH must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.85 or higher and score 1300 or better on the SAT.

Other scholarship opportunities being offered by NU have various eligibility requirements. Each scholarship is renewable on an annual basis pending student performance at the university level.

Representatives from both schools also signed a two-year extension on an existing dual credit course which offers SH’s juniors and seniors the opportunity to take a public speaking class offered by NU. The class is part of the Distance Learning Program at SH’s and is taught utilizing video conference technology. Students participating in this program receive three credits from NU while simultaneously earning elective credits at SH’s. This program is in its fifth year.  The Distance Learning Room also served as the backdrop for the signing.

Also present for the signing from SH’s were Gerard Laskowski, Principal, and Eric Stonesifer, Assistant Principal of Academic Affairs.
