Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast High School Hosts Assistant Secretary-General for the UN and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Crisis in Syria

Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in Drexel Hill (Delaware County) welcomed Mr. Kevin Kennedy, U.N. Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Syrian Crisis and a 1965 graduate of Monsignor Bonner, to the school on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  Mr. Kennedy spoke to the Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast student body at an assembly at the beginning of the school day.  His visit was coordinated by the school’s Advancement department.

In addition to addressing the entire school, Mr. Kennedy also spoke to students in two AP Government Classes at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast during 1st and 2nd periods.

Mr. Kennedy has served as the Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Crisis in Syria since January 2015. He has extensive experience organizing the international community’s response to humanitarian emergencies worldwide at the strategic, policy, and field levels.  He has served as a senior UN official in Somalia, Haiti, Iraq, the Sudan, Timor-Leste, the Balkans, Pakistan and the Occupied Palestinian Territories as well as leading numerous UN missions to Africa, Asia and the South Pacific.
