Archdiocese of Philadelphia Elementary and High School Students Participate in Annual “March for Life” in Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, January 22, 2015, the 42nd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade students, faculty and staff from schools throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia participated in the annual “March for Life” in Washington, D.C.

The March for Life activities began with an Opening Mass at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. The principal celebrant and homilist was Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap., Chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Pro-Life Activities.

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. celebrated Mass for the approximately 2,000 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia who attended the March at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22nd at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

The March for Life Rally began at the National Mall at 12:00 p.m. Local participants processed behind the Archdiocese of Philadelphia banner, carried by seminarians from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

71 buses departed from 59 Parishes and Schools throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Thursday morning, including two buses transporting more than 100 seminarians and faculty from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.
